Having trouble getting at those pesky morals when brushing your teeth? Have you ever considering just ripping your entire jaw off? Well, whether you have or haven't Amy Smart is here to give you the first step to jaw rippage in anticipation for the August 15th release of Alexandre Aja's horror Mirrors and if you remember from a few weeks back the end result ain't pretty, but it is certainly effective.

The image progression includes an exclusive image to RopeofSilicon.com and the way Fox has been pushing this film's gore content and just knowing Aja's films I have to believe it is full of it. For those of you unfamiliar with the film it centers on the idea that your reflection can basically drive you mad. While many may think the above images spoil a part of the film it isn't clear whether the scene previewed actually happens to Amy Smart's character or if it is what she sees in her reflection.

The full image is featured below and you can click here to browse our gallery of images, which also includes a larger look at our exlclusive image as well as the third pic previewed above. Also, don't forget to watch the red band trailer below, which I will warn you seems to give away a lot, but who really knows?

If you want to know exactly how the film works and, more to the point, exactly what happens in the scene featured watch this little featurette. I have to admit, the sound effects alone make me cringe watching as Aja explains this one.

And next we have the Red Band Trailer:

Aja's really promoting this movie through this jaw-ripping scene! I'm a big fan of what Aja does to horror, he does a really good job of creating suspense but this movie doesn't look too promising to me, but I have faith so I'm hoping it's just bad trailers.

Yeah, it's a hard one to judge and I really like Aja's style. However, if you don't mind spoiling the jaw ripping scene watch that featurette in the article. It actually looks like the premise may be pretty cool considering Amy Smart's reflection stays in the mirror and then kills her in the bathtub as the reflection harms itself, but in turn harms the actual person.

However, I did just get a screening invite and it is for 8 PM the night before the film releases, typically not a good sign, but since it is Fox and considering they are willing to show it, I am going to remain skeptically optimistic and hope it's a genre film that will satisfy the niche. I really would like to have another horror film to enjoy.
