Mirren Heading to the Gaza Strip
This one could get messy...

The Gaza Strip is an insane place if you have done any reading on it, and if you haven't so so right here, and it is ripe for a feature film to come along and tear your heart out.
Word is that recent Oscar winner Helen Mirren is set to portray one of the few Jewish women left in the Strip. Her daughter, a journalist, is having a relationship with a Palestinian but is shot and killed.
Andy Harries whose company, Left Bank Pictures, is making Gaza told the Times Online, "It’s much more a human interest story rather than a political one," but I am not sure how you can avoid political elements when talking about the subject.
Frank Deasy penned the screenplay and shooting in Gaza will obviously not happen as Jordan will double for the troubled land.
The majority of Gaza's residents are refugees who fled or were expelled in 1948 from the land that became Israel. Most Gazans live in eight refugee camps to which the United Nations delivers health, education and other humanitarian services. The influx of refugees into the narrow strip of land means it now has one of the highest population densities on earth.
About 20% of refugee dwellings are not connected to the sewage system and waste water flows in open channels along roads. I wonder how that will be played out in the film.
