Mirren and Harris Join ‘National Treasure 2′

Two Oscar-nominees join action-adventure

JoBlo.com has just posted some exclusive casting news for National Treasure: Book of Secrets, and as they said, it is odd this has not yet been announced yet considering filming is underway and both of these actors are Oscar nominees.

Joining the chase will be 2007 Oscar-winner Helen Mirren as Nicolas Cage’s mother, Emily Gates. The site says that “she’s there to help link Cage’s Ben Gates to his family’s connection to John Wilkes Booth and the mysterious Knights of the Gold Circle.”

The villain in this whole ordeal will be none other than Ed Harris who will star as Jeb Wilkinson, who has some information about Gates’ father and aligns himself as an ally, and then goes bad.

Mirren and Harris join already cast Cage, Diane Kruger, Justin Bartha and Harvey Keitel. National Treasure: The Book of Secrets is set to hit theaters on December 17.
