Michael Radford and the Rise of ‘Taj’

Nope, not another stupid Van Wilder film

The only reason I am writing this up is because I actually enjoyed Michael Radford’s Merchant of Venice a few years back starring Al Pacino. I know most would focus on Radford’s 1995 Oscar-winner Il Postino, but I find it more enjoyable liking films other people didn’t, so sue me.

Well, Radford is ready to work again as his latest effort, Flawless, has hardly earned a blip on the radar despite the fact it stars Michael Caine and Demi Moore.

His next flick looks like it will be Taj, the love story between 17th century Mughal emperor Shah Jahan and Mumtaz Mahal, the queen for whom he built the Taj Mahal as a mausoleum. Krishna Shah wrote the script.

Radford intends to film the feature in his home country of New Dehli and he recently visited Mumbai to scout locations. A September production start is planned.
