Malick Eyeing Penn and Ledger for Next Flick
Two actors set to team for 'Tree'
Sean Penn and Heath Ledger may be seen together in a new film called Tree of Life. The duo are currently in negotiations to star in the flick for writer/director Terrence Malick. Ledger would be the star of the show with Penn talking on a supporting role.
Nothing is known about the plot outside of THR saying it is a "complex drama" and that Ledger will play opposite a female lead. Not a whole lot to go on, but with Malick involved I am sure there will be some pretty scenery to look at.
The film has been long in the works and even Malick's New World star, Colin Farrell, was at one point attached as the lead with about a third of the shoot set for India. Now, River Road Entertainment is behind the jump start. River Road was the producer on Ledger's Brokeback Mountain and Penn's Into the Wild and it seems there is faith they will get the ball rolling on Tree.
