Macht Headlining Frank Miller's 'Spirit'

Comic adaptation begins production in October

Frank Miller has talked much about how Will Eisner's "The Spirit" was a big influence on him and now he is getting the chance to direct a feature film adaptation of the comicbook series and has set Gabriel Macht as his lead.

Macht will play the title character in The Spirit, a man who has faked his own death so he can battle crime from the shadows of Central City. He runs up against the Octopus, a villain who's bent on wiping out the entire city and kills anyone unlucky enough to see his face.

Miller penned the script and Lionsgate is set to distribute the film in 2009 with production set to begin in October.
