Leonardo DiCaprio Has Been Solid for Six Straight Years
Always solid, rarely remarkable, definitely entertaining

| The Aviator (2004) |
|
RELEASED: December 17, 2004
BOX-OFFICE: $102,610,330 QUICK THOUGHTS: I mentioned Erin Nolan at Film.com in my opening paragraph and this was the film that made me think about writing this little feature. She listed The Aviator as one of Leo's bottom five films in his career. Gasp! Seriously? Whether you like this movie or not DiCaprio is phenomenal as Howard Hughes. If you think the film is scattered or has its flaws I have a hard time believing anyone will point to DiCaprio as one of those problems. Then again, maybe I am living in a bubble and am the only one that believes this. |

| The Departed (2006) |
|
RELEASED: October 6, 2006
BOX-OFFICE: $132,384,315 QUICK THOUGHTS: There aren't many that dislike this film and for those of you that want to say Infernal Affairs is better, that's fine, but we are not getting that deep into thought here. DiCaprio is once again solid in this flick and continues to prove you don't have to necessarily look tough to act tough and even though Leo still looks like he weighs a solid 110 pounds he continues to pull off roles many might expect may be beyond his ability. |
