Law and Whitaker do the ‘Repossession Mambo’

Hey, Sam Jackson told us about this one

Oddly enough, when I first read this story it didn’t click, but then I remembered Samuel L. Jackson talking about a film called Repossession Mambo when I interviewed him for Home of the Brave. So, I looked back into the RopeofSilicon archives and sure enough there it was, here is what he told me then:

I get scripts every week. I read them and I don’t know the story until — sometimes I look at the title and go “Oh, Snakes on a Plane, yeah” or I read something the other day called “Repossession Mambo” and I was like, “hmm okay. What is this??” and it turns out that it was about some guys who work for a repossession company in the future, but the work for a company that sells peoples organs. So when people don’t pay their bills, they go get their organs. This is good!

It seemed like he liked it, but Miguel Sapochnik went another direction when it came to casting as Jude Law and Forest Whitaker have secured starring roles in the film for Universal Pictures. Written by Eric Garcia and Garrett Lerner the storyline from The Hollywood Reporter tells us that it centers on a repo man made up of artificial organs who, after receiving a heart transplant, struggles to make payments. He must go on the run from his former partner.

The picture is eyeing a September start date.
