Paramount Pictures will apparently be releasing a companion film called Secrets of the Furious Five when it releases Kung Fu Panda on DVD and Blu-ray this November. The DVD and Blu-ray packages will hit shelves on Sunday, November 9 as opposed to the traditional Tuesday DVD release. This is said to be the first time a studio has released a direct-to-video companion film in conjunction with the major theatrical release’s home video debut.

The new feature delves into the backstories of the Kung Fu Panda characters Tigress, Monkey, Mantis, Viper and Crane and will feature the voice talent of Jack Black as Po the Panda and Dustin Horrman as Master Shifu. There is no word on who will be voicing the other characters, but it appears Angelina Jolie, Jackie Chan, Seth Rogen, Lucy Liu and David Cross will not be returning considering The Hollywood Reporter did not mention any of them in their article.

The release will be called the “Pandamonium Double Pack” and will retail for less than $25 with a single disc DVD edition of Kung Fu Panda also made available.
