Kevin Smith Prepped to Continue with Film Title Innuendos

Online spell check does not recognize "snoochy" or "boochy" as actual words

According to Exhibitor Relations Kevin Smith has cast Bruce Willis and Tracey Morgan in a new comedy with a new studio as he parts for the first time from Harvey Weinstein and sets up shop at Warner Bros. with Couple of Dicks in the hope television stations across the country will censor this title just as they did Zack and Miri Make a Porno. Only this time I think Couple of will really throw off audiences.

I joke of course, since most of my regular readers know I am a Kevin Smith fan even though I didn't necessarily love Zack and Miri or Clerks II before that, but have pretty much the rest of his filmography over on my DVD shelf just waiting to be replaced once the day comes when Jay and Silent Bob find themselves on Blu-ray.

However, with Couple of Dicks Kevin may be on the right track by attaching Willis and Morgan as both carry a little bit of weight and name recognition. The film itself is not a mystery to Hollywood as the script by Mark Cullen and Robb Cullen was actually on the most recent 2008 Black List, which lists the most promising unproduced scripts floating around. From there we learn the story follows two veteran LAPD detectives who attempt to track down a stolen, mint-condition, 1952 baseball card that one of the detectives hopes to sell in order to pay for his daughter's upcoming wedding.

Warner Bros. has already set a January 29, 2010. Unfortunately a release date in January is never a great sign and it seems this means his horror film, Red State, is proving hard for the writer/director to find funding.

Couple of Dicks will also be the first time Smith has directed a film he didn't write. Perhaps he is trying to break out of the snoochy boochy and chase down the Hollywood big bucks, because as much as fans love what he does it is proving not to be a big moneymaker no matter how many Jay and Silent Bob dolls he sells online.

the end of the third paragraph in the article makes no sense. Are the card hunt and wedding seperate or do they have anything to do with one another? Written as it is it's a bit confusing

@Will: Apologies, typed it up too fast and accidentally left out a few words.

This wasn't the first time Kevin Smith parted from Harvey Weinstein. Mallrats was distributed by Universal Pictures and the Weinsteins gave Dogma away to Lions Gate Films due to religious controversy. Kevin Smith is the only reason why the Weinstein Company is still in buisiness. I am still waiting for Fanboys to come to Elko, Nevada! Are you listening to me, Harvey?
