Keaton and Goldblum Join Harrison Ford in 'Morning Glory'
An A-List comedy? Bring it on...
Variety reports Diane Keaton and Jeff Goldblum have signed on to join Harrison Ford and Rachel McAdams in the Roger Michell directed comedy Morning Glory for Paramount Pictures, which is scheduled to begin filming next month in New York.
The film, which is not a remake of the 1933 Katharine Hepburn starrer that won the actress an Oscar, centers on an aspiring news producer (McAdams) who tries to save a failing morning show by getting control of its feuding anchors. Ford and Keaton will play the dueling on-air personalities. Goldblum will portray McAdams' boss.
Aline Brosh McKenna who had a hand in the upcoming musical remake Fame and also adapted the Lauren Weisberger novel "The Devil Wears Prada" penned the script.
Based on the premise of the film, if you are looking for comparisons in Michell's directorial work the most obvious film would probably be Notting Hill. The only other Michell features I have seen are Venus and Changing Lanes, both of which I liked, but don't really think they give us much to go on outside of realizing he is certainly a capable director.
Then again, it seems to me we don't have to look much further than the cast to realize this film has serious potential considering the talent involved, all of which have shown a flair for comedy (maybe not McAdams) in the past and this may mark a point in movies when A-List actors go back to making movies that have come to only feature C-List talent. Just imagine, a screwball rom-com with actors that can actually act and didn't get popular by getting naked in public or having a pop tune top the charts.
