I have been a Wes Anderson fan since I saw Royal Tenenbaums when it came out and when I went and Rushmore and Bottle Rocket I became an even bigger fan then Life Aquatic just added more icing to the cake then came The Darjeeling Limited which I found to be dissapointing. There were too many outside influences on Wes Andersons directing that it hardly seems like one of his movies. The music is wrong and it is missing the artistic style of his previous films. Maybe I was just in a funk when I watched it but I guess thats just my two cents.

It's good that you like "Bottle Rocket." Having Wes Anderson as my favorite director forces me to come to his defence whenever someone dislikes one of his movies. But after some thought I realized that Wes has a very speciel and subtle style of humour that doesn't work for everyone. When you say you dislike "Rushmore" and "The Royal Tenenbaums" it's not a surprise since in my experience Wes has always been a love or hate director. But you liked "Bottle Rocket", so maybe you should finish "The Royal Tenenbaums". Maybe you'll be surprised. It's my favorite of the bunch and while "Bottle Rocket" is Owen's finest performance, "The Royal Tenenbaums" is Luke's. The sorrow and comedy he portrays so subtly is amazing. It's also the saddest of his movies.

But "Bottle Rocket" is a great film. Funny, tragically comic (as are all his movies) and I hate using this term: heart warming.

Actually this does encourage me to watch it.
I just watched In Bruges this weekend and I absolutely loved it. Ok the ending was very predictable but the dialog and characters are mad, in a good way. And it was very refreshing to see some very good acting from Colin Farrell.

So if you say you liked that and not all the silly more-of-the-same comedies about idiots, and you liked Bottle Rocket, yeah that does get my attention.

Like with In Bruges and No Country For Old men you can see that subtle humor does work and how it adds to a film withouth pushing it into a certain genre.

Owen did try some different kind of acting in The Haunting and Behind Enemy lines but I had seen to much comedy stuff of him before that so it was hard take him seriously in those.
