Jolie and Her New Look as Mariane Pearl

Damn, quite the difference

NOTE: The full-sized image has just been sent to RopeofSilicon and is now in the gallery here.

Even CNN has boarded the Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt train and now USA Today brings us the first picture of Jolie as Mariane Pearl as Pitt and Jolie are currently filming A Mighty Heart, based on the 2003 book “A Mighty Heart: The Brave Life and Death of My Husband Danny Pearl,” by Mariane Pearl.

In the film Jolie plays Mariane, widow of the Wall Street Journal reporter, who was murdered by terrorists in Pakistan in 2002 while researching a story on the links between “shoe bomber” Richard Reid and Islamic spiritual leader Sheikh Mubarak Gilani. Mariane was pregnant with their child when her husband was kidnapped.

Filming is currently taking place in Pune, India, about 160 kilometers (100 miles) south of Mumbai, India’s financial and entertainment hub. Security has been tight around the two and there was even a case of a security guard choking a member of the paparazzi outside the Pune hotel where the couple is staying.

Jolie is apparently upset that filming is not taking place in Pakistan, “a country [she] love[s] and [has] visited three times.”

Michael Winterbottom is directing the pic for a 2007 release and if you haven’t done so yet, check out Winterbottom’s latest release on DVD, Road to Guantanamo, now that is a movie!
