Jackman Sits and Spins On ‘Carousel’

Remake ready to roll at Fox 2000

Variety is reporting that Fox 2000 is readying a remake of the 1956 musical Carousel with Hugh Jackman in line to star and produce the pic through his Seed Productions with partner John Palermo.

The picture would feature Jackman as Billy Bigelow, a carnival barker whose temper puts him in the middle of a botched robbery and leads to his death. Stuck in purgatory, he’s given one day to return and fix the problems he left behind — namely a teenager who has a lot of his rebellious traits.

Jackman can be seen in theaters now in Woody Allen’s Scoop and will next be seen in The Fountain and The Prestige.
