'Iron Man 2' Shoots in Three Weeks with 'Green Lantern' Starting in September

Tweeting production updates is now en vogue

Green Lantern

News outlets and directors themselves have taken to Twitter to spread the word regarding upcoming films as Iron Man 2 director Jon Favreau updates the status of that production and Production Weekly brings word of WB's Green Lantern.

First to Favreau, who back on Monday dropped the following note regarding production on Iron Man 2:

Rehearsals began today on Iron Man 2. Three weeks from shooting and my life is no longer my own. I forgot how overwhelming this process is.

On top of this news Favreau told Entertainment Tonight, "I know Mickey's been in Russia doing research for a role, I can confirm that. We haven't made any official announcements yet. But I will say that there’s a Russian villain in our film."

Of course Favs is just waiting until the Ts are crossed and the Is are dotted before opening his big mouth on Rourke or even the casting of Scarlett Johansson as he told IESB, "Scarlett is somebody I've been wanting to work with for a while, she's a great actor, we've been talking for a while and we haven't announced anything yet but I'll tell you she hadn't screen tested or anything but I met with her and hopefully we'll be getting everything settled so we can make some announcements this week."

Iron Man 2 hits theaters on May 7 and I expect some footage will be shown at this year's San Diego Comic Con to once again get folks excited a year in advance just as Paramount did prior to the first film's release before it went on to make a bajillion dollars and remind all underground rock dwellers Robert Downey Jr. is a great actor.

Next up we have Green Lantern news as Production Weekly tweets the following updates:

"Green Lantern" has setup production offices at the Tribeca West complex in West Los Angeles… [and is] scheduled to begin filming mid-September in Australia.

Lantern news doesn't end there as Dark Horizons has its own update from producer Donald Deline:

"The status is, funnily enough, we are leaving for Australia Wednesday night with Martin Campbell, our director, to go scout in Sydney and Melbourne, and we plan on starting to shoot mid-September in Australia" says De Line. De Line also admits that "we don’t have a soul cast" and reiterates that this story is "the Hal Jordan version of The Green Lantern."

So there you have it… hope that's enough to keep you satisfied for an hour or so.

BRAD: If you find out where casting calls for extras will take place, let me know: I'm living in Melbourne, now. I think it'd even be cool to be the "celery stick" Green Lantern! (Dying in the background, amidst a blast of alien death rays, of course) :)

In brightest day, in blackest night, no evil shall escape my sight!

Excited for GL more than IM2 but I think both movies have the potential of turning out to be great..despite Scarlet Johansson.
