Inglourious Basterd's Star Christoph Waltz Lands 'Green Hornet' Villain Role
Replacing Nic Cage with this guy is a no-brainer
When Nicolas Cage dropped out of negotiations for The Green Hornet it left a gap in the casting for Chudnofsky, the film's villain, and today Deadline.com is saying Christoph Waltz has landed the role.
Waltz made a huge splash this summer as Col. Hans Landa in Quentin Tarantino's Inglourious Basterds and won Best Actor at the Cannes Film Festival for the role as well as may have earned himself an Oscar nomination. Should this casting come true it would be an impressive big break for the Austrian actor whom, I will dare say, no one in the States knew of before Tarantino's Basterds.
This may also end up being the first of two big breaks following films released in August as District 9 star Sharlto Copley is still rumored to be the front runner for the role of Capt. H.M. "Howling Mad" Murdock in Joe Carnahan's The A-Team.
Perhaps this summer generated two movie stars that will have the chance to stick around for some time. I would even say three after Carey Mulligan's performance in An Education, which earned her a spot in Oliver Stone's Wall Street 2: Money Never Sleeps. Can anyone out there think of any more?
