I know that I may come off sounding like a snob (which I guess I kind of am), but I have never gotten any enjoyment out of a Ron Howard. I really hate A Beautiful Mind for numerous reasons, but I'll boil down my rant to a few major problems that pretty much sum up what I perceive to be the suckiness of A Beautiful Mind, and Ron Howard in general:

- Ron Howard changed the facts to make the movie more palatable to mainstream audiences (for example, the real Nash is bi-sexual, and had numerous affairs, one resulting in another child)
- In regards to the handling of Nash's illness, Ronnie stole several techniques that David Fincher used in Fight Club (I won't elaborate unless you want me to, so that I can avoid spoiling Fight Club for anyone).
- The score is extremely annoying, and doesn't give the viewer a chance to think of things for him/herself. Granted, Ronnie didn't compose the music, but he did decide to use it.

I just think that Ron Howard is a completely unoriginal director, and is really only a poor-man's Spielberg. I find it insulting that A Beautiful Mind won the Best Picture Oscar the year that much better movies came out, especially The Royal Tenenbaums (one of my all-time favorites).

But this is just my opinion, and I do acknowledge that I might sound like a snob. I just can't take his movies (especially The Da Vinci Code, which is really just a bad combination of Robert Ludlum and Indiana Jones).

Really? I actually like Ron Howard. Of course there are some movies of his that I don't like such as Backdraft and Da Vinci Code wasn't all that good. However, I loved Cinderella Man and A Beautiful Mind. I would certainly say his movies are at least watchable on every occasion even if I don't choose to watch them again.

I could use this space to whine about how much Ron Howard sucks and how he's going to run a smart script by Noah Baumbach, but I won't. See how much my self-control has improved?
