Production Weekly is reporting that desperate housewife, Teri Hatcher, has been cast in the sports drama Resurrecting the Champ, pitting her opposite Josh Hartnett and Samuel L. Jackson.

Rod Lurie is directing the pic based on a Los Angeles Times article written by J.R. Moehringer centering on a reporter (Hartnett) who finds a homeless man (Jackson) who he thinks is a famous boxer but turns out to be a lesser-known fighter of the same era.

Hatcher will play the head of a TV channel who teaches Hartnett the ropes of being a reporter-turned-celebrity. Alan Alda, Kathryn Morris and Rachel Nichols are also cast in the film that will begin a six week shoot later this month in Calgary, Alberta.
