Gugino Reunites with Snyder for 'Sucker Punch'

But who will she be playing?

Borys Kit is reporting the lovely Carla Gugino has been added to the cast of Zack Snyder's Sucker Punch reuniting the actress with the director after starring as Sally Jupiter in Watchmen earlier this year.

Gugino joins Emily Browning, Vanessa Hudgens, Jamie Chung, Jena Malone, and Abbie Cornish star in the 1950s-set tale of a girl (Browning) confined to a mental institution by her evil stepfather, who intends to have her lobotomized in five days. She and her friends enter an alternate reality where they begin planning an escape.

There is no word on Gugino's character, but I'll guess she plays the mother to Browning's character who goes by the name Baby Doll. Kit reports the actors are currently in fight training, and the studio is readying a fall shoot in Vancouver.

Early artwork from the film was debuted on t-shirts at Comic Con recently, you can get a full-sized look at that right here.

Sucker Punch is set to hit theaters on March 25, 2011.

Can't he learn anything. The worst part of the disappointing WATCHMEN was the way snyder cast and directed the female roles, specifically silk specter and her mother.

Someone has a grudge…

Watchmen wasn't spectacular. We all know that. But you gotta admire the guy for the effort he put into it. I could tell while watching it that Snyder really loves the source material. Probably too much, because in my opinion, it seemed like he focused a little too much on a very visually correct adaptation, rather than a tight, focused narrative.

Now, I somewhat agree with you on your Watchmen points, but to preemptively say that this is going to be awful might be jumping the gun a little bit. I'm curious to see what Snyder does with this…
