'Green Lantern' Casting Rumor Suggests Bradley Cooper

Okay, have at it folks...

Like I have said in the past, I am a blank slate when it comes to comic books so when I receive word from Hit Fix telling me they have learned Bradley Cooper has either been in front of the camera already or will be this week testing for the lead role of Hal Jordan in the Green Lantern comic adaptation I simply think, "Great, he's a pretty good actor." Over at Hit Fix they are so confident in Cooper they are willing to say, "I would bet that Cooper's going to be the guy."

Martin Campbell (Casino Royale) is already attached to direct the DC Comics adaptation for Warner Bros., which has already set a December 17, 2010 release date, which means casting news around this time sounds about right. As for the Green Lantern character, I am at a loss.

I have read Hal Jordan is the second Green Lantern and an ordinary man who has been charged with defending a sector of the universe. Apparently he was the first earthman inducted into the Green Lantern Corps and founding member of the Justice League of America.

As for Bradley Cooper, you all know who he is, and you will be seeing him again in The Hangover this summer, a film that is expected to be hilarious.

I thought WB would go for a bigger name like Gosling because many people blamed the weak star power of the Watchmen actors as one of the reasons that movie didn't generate much interest among non-comic book circles. If this rumor proves to be true, they should be hoping that Cooper makes a big mark with 'The Hangover'.

He is definetly Green Lantern. Gosling isn't big enough body-wise. Cooper needs a blockbuster to get his name out there even more. I really hope he's the guy, he has the look for it big time.

What about Chris Pine? Cooper's okay…but I was so set on Chris Pine, especially if Star Trek does well this weekend, which I'm sure it will.

Actor Brian Austin Green expressed interest in a recent interview, and he has, in his post-90210 career, and success in genre work such as Terminator: the Sarah Connor Chronicles, shown an aptitude and physicality for the role of Hal Jordan, the Silver Age Green Lantern and founding member of the Justice League of America.

Sounds interesting. But the franchise that DC really needs to get a move on is Wonder Woman.

I actually really like this guy for Green Lantern. I always thought Gosling was gonna be a weird Lantern if it came to pass and this makes far more sense. Cooper has tons of charisma and he has enough "everyman" charm at this point to do it justice. "The Hangover" looks spectacular and if he gets his name out there with that and Green Lantern this could be his break.
