Giamatti is the 'Paper Man'
Sideways star set for new comedy.
Paul Giamatti, who has managed to beef up his worth over the past couple years with last year's surprise hit American Splendor and now this year's kudo-fest Sideways, is now ready to topline his next comedy Paper Man for film producers FilmColony and Management 360.
The film will mark the directorial debut of scribes Michele and Kieran Mulroney.
In the film Giamatti will play a man struggling to recapture the spark that made him a successful novelist. His marriage also is disintegrating, and neither problem is helped by the presence of an imaginary superhero friend who has been with the writer since childhood. On Cape Cod, he strikes up a platonic relationship with a local high school girl that re-energizes him.
Production is currently set to begin next spring and a distribution deal is anticipated to be pinned down before Christmas.
