Gervais Says It's Time for 'Early Retirement'
No, he isn't quitting the biz

One man that seems to be especially picky about which projects he attaches himself to is Ricky Gervais, which means that when he does latch on to something we should take notice. Creator of the original BBC television show "The Office" Gervais has since found himself in a kick ass episode of "Alias," Christopher Guest's For Your Consideration, "Extras" and Night at the Museum. He will be seen in theaters shortly playing Ferdy the Fence in Stardust, which is great by the way, and is now lined up to star in Early Retirement for Warner Bros.
The new pic is based on Mark Perez's comedy pitch about an work-obsessed man who quits his demanding job to spend more time with his family.
Perez said he wanted to do a movie that picks up where other family comedies leave off — with the husband quitting his job to spend more time with his family — and then watch what happens. If it is done correctly I think we will learn it isn't all roses as most films would lead us to believe.
Perez last penned Accepted for Universal.
