Gerard Butler's 'Gamer' Has a Trailer

Turn on, tune in and prepare for the mayhem

It has been titled Game, Citizen Game and Lionsgate has finally decided on Gamer for their new film starring Gerard Butler, Michael C. Hall, Amber Valletta, Alison Lohman, Zoe Bell, Kyra Sedgwick, Chris 'Ludacris' Bridges and Milo Ventimiglia. Gamer is directed by Crank franchise writer/directors Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor and has already earned an R from the MPAA for frenetic sequences of strong brutal violence throughout, sexual content, nudity and language.

Crazy thing is, outside of the co-distribution of the animated flop Battle for Terra, Lionsgate doesn't have a single summer release. Gamer hits theaters on September 4, just missing the summer season.

The film is set in the not-too-distant future in which Butler plays Kabel. Every week, millions worldwide tune in online to watch him and hundreds of other convicts battle in Slayers, an ultra-violent multi-player online game invented by technological genius Ken Castle (Michael C. Hall). Want the rest of the story? Check out the brand new trailer directly below.

thats gonna be this year's Max Payne. great actor+video-game related basis or origin+Ludacris+a missing or dead wife+a Marylin Manson song over the trailer=Gamer and Max Payne…looks fun, though…

hahahaha super trailer… looks like a rehash of Death Race, but only better. Love those Crank guys for dishing out mindless fun :P

Only thing i didn't like in the trailer was Ludachris and this line: "This is not something you can control"

Looks like a wacked-out, fun, crazy f**kin' action flick. I would say that it looks like Death Race, except this looks good. So…there's your difference. I may just be there September 4.

I actually really want to see this. Gerard Butler needs to stick with the action flicks, his turn in romantic dramadies is completely dissapointing after his turn in "300"

I love Michael C. Hall, it's cool to not only see him getting a prime film role but also getting to play a straight villian after playing a restrained "bad guy" on Dexter.

Neveldine and Taylor are great at what they do and this certainly fits their niche. I'm looking forward to it.

This actually looks good despite the silly plot.
