Gerard Butler Takes a Knife to Dexter's Throat in New 'Gamer' Still

The serial killer has met his match...

I don't typically put up a post simply for one image, but being a fan of "Dexter" and thinking the upcoming Lionsgate film Gamer starring Gerard Butler as an unwitting pop culture hero who battles other convicts in an ultra-violent multi-player online game, sounds like it could be a little bit of fun, despite obvious Death Race comparisons, I figured what the hell?

The new picture teased above features Butler as Kabel as he threatens Ken Castle played by "Dexter" star Michael C. Hall. Castle is the inventor of the online game and he controls Kabel's every move and the film revolves around an attempt to take him down.

I have added a better version of the recently released trailer directly below and you can check out the full-sized image in our gallery right here.

Michael C. Hall is brilliant and seeing him getting a big screen role in a film that, to me, looks pretty damn good is awesome.

I like Gerard Butler when he knows what he is, an action star. His continuing run of romantic comedies is baffling to me. He was good in "Phantom Of The Opera" but by and large he fits the action hero role too well to leave it convincingly.

Neveldine and Taylor are two of my favorite filmmakers in Hollywood. They don't waste their time infusing heady plot development where it shouldn't be, they're interested in making fun genre pictures. Crank and Crank: High Voltage are two extremely fun movies and I expect this to be nothing less. If Hollywood ever decides to make a "Grand Theft Auto" film as has been rumored, these are the only guys for it.

I'm looking forward to "Gamer".

I find it amusing that all the guys just want Gerry to be an action star. He has the ability to act in almost any genre, as evidenced by such roles as Johnny in The Jury, the Stranger in Dear Frankie and the Phantom, so why should he limit himself to just action roles. Those are for people who can't really act, and he can. He is also really funny, with great comedic timing.

Re Gerard Butler, what Suzy said just previously. He is indeed multitalented.
