Fourth Jason Bourne Film Set for 2010?

Producers seem to think so...

IESB.net caught up with producers Frank Marshall and Tom Crowley on the red carpet at the Saturn Awards on Tuesday and asked them about the proposed fourth Jason Bourne film that was first mentioned back in February and then said not to be a guarantee in March.

When asked about the possibility of a fourth Jason Bourne film Marshall said, "Absolutely," continuing, "Hopefully we will be shooting next summer for release in 2010.

"There was a fourth book written, but it was not by Mr. Ludlum. So we're probably going to take our own direction and we're working on what that storyline's gonna be right now."

A big selling point on The Bourne Ultimatum was that Bourne was returning home, back to America. When asked about the fourth film Marshall responded, "I think he's headed down south. I think he's headed to South America."

They also talk a bit about Bourne vs. Bond in the video as well as the unlikely potential for a fifth Indiana Jones film and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. You can watch here.

As afraid as I am that a fourth film in the series can ruin what is already the best trilogy ever made (yes, better then "Godfather". Don't hate me) the thought of seeing another Bourne film does sound tempting. But only as long as Paul Greengrass and Matt Damon returns. If they replace one of them this series finished with "The Bourne Ultimatum" for me.

i agree. You've got this perfect set of films. Why take the chance to muck up its legacy? Oh yes, money.

It's my same fear with The Hobbit–although I think it's in damn good hands (and so would a fourth Bourne film be if Greengrass and Damon came back), but nontheless coming back for "just one more" tends to be rolling the die, and usually it comes out snake eyes.

Yeah it is a very dangerous thing they're trying to do.
But didn't everyone expect it all to go badly when they talked about making a third one?
They might just surprise us again, they have the right ingredients.
But again it is a very, very thin line they're walking.
