Do they want to say, "hey we named others the best but don't forget to watch this one"? In Bruges certainly is great but for me it's the ending that keeps it away from competing for the top spot but the rest of it was absolutely fantastic. I expect (and received) good perfomance from Gleeson and Fiennes but Farrell really surprised and impressed me. It's great how Ledger is getting honoured so much and in my opinion actually for is performance and not because he passed away so recently. Such talent. It was solid in every way. And definitely one of the big overlooked movies of the year. I hope at least the screenplay gets nominated, but I'd also like to see Ralph Fiennes nab a supporting actor nod. His work in just a few scenes stood out to me the whole year.
