Five Sexy New Looks at 'Nine'

Will the sex appeal put asses in the seats?

I talk about Nine at every turn, so regular readers already know it is my most anticipated film as the year wears on, but I wonder if images such as the one above will help get more people excited for the film or simply get more people excited to click through the image gallery for the film. Either way, I guess it's simply nice to make sure awareness will be raised. I mean, even fanboy sites are promoting these very same pics. That's something right?

You can check out the gallery of five new images by clicking here.

Nine hits theaters on November 25 and is a musical adaptation inspired by the Federico Fellini film 8 1/2 that follows the life of world famous film director Guido Contini (Daniel Day-Lewis) as he reaches a creative and personal crisis of epic proportion, while balancing the numerous women in his life including his wife (Marion Cotillard), his mistress (Penelope Cruz), his film star muse (Nicole Kidman), his confidant and costume designer (Judi Dench), an American fashion journalist (Kate Hudson), the whore from his youth (Fergie) and his mother (Sophia Loren). The film is directed by Rob Marshall (Chicago). The original 1982 Broadway production of Nine, with music and lyrics by Maury Yeston, won five Tony Awards including Best Musical.

I can't wait! I'd probably put this at #4 on my most anticipated list for the rest of the year, after
1) Antichrist
2) The Lovely Bones
3) Avatar

Or maybe I'd tie it with Avatar. I'm looking forward to this a damn lot.

@JM: You must be a fascinating person to be anticipating with much glee both "Antichrist" and "Nine." The first is so misogynistic and the second so the opposite.

There's no Pr drum, drum, drumming for this one so far. Yet people are already talking about "Amelia" and others. Maybe I've got my ear listening to the wrong wall.

I'm decidedly not anticipating this. I don't particularly like muscials on film…love them in live theatre. But Brad, I must tell you that I started clicking on your site everyday after you raved about this film. Why? Because it showed you to be so nonstereotypical. I found it surprising, and I liked to be surprised. Pleasantly, that is.

Probably my most anticipated movie of the year is The Lovely Bones – because I loved the book so much, and because I still think "Heavenly Creatures" is Peter Jackson's best movie. Oh, and there's Susan Sarandon…

Patricia, I also want to see "Antichrist" and "Nine" so badly. Does this make me fascinating? I hope so.

These "Nine" pictures look incredible. I like each one of these actresses, expect for Fergie. Can she be considered an actress? I dunno. Will these pictures make more people see the movie? I really don't know. Hopefully, since it looks like a great movie.

@Adriano: You have always been fascinating.

Don't throw anything at me but "The Lovely Bones" does not look interesting to me. They took a book that reflects on the never ending connection through our relationships as well as the nature of time and eternity and turned it into a "who dun it."

@Patricia: Not sure where you got that impression, but there is no mystery element to The Lovely Bones.

@Patricia: thank you. Ditto.

As for The Lovely Bones, I still think it's just the trailer, not the movie – they're trying to sell it to a younger audience. I have faith in Peter Jackson.
But I guess we'll have to wait till December.

@Brad Brevet: I am very glad to hear that.

But, darn! When am I going to learn that the marketing peeps for a film seem to have no idea what the film is about and produce trailers that
A) Give away the best lines
B) Misdirect the public re: perspective and/or focus of the film
C) Include scenes cut from the final film
D) All of the above

I've been waiting for this years big musical- and it definitely Nine. the women in this film are beyond stunning… the visuals look spectacular, Chicago was good but i think Marshall's outdone himself… yes I'm basing that solely on the trailer and the pictures but they look great.

as for lovely bones i am sure peter jackson might have intentionally let the first trailer look somewhat of a who-dun-it so that the people unfamiliar with the book might get excited , the visuals on that one too are stunning. this is not unfamiliar as it was done for The Road too. I am pretty certain both the movies are going to be very differnet from their respective first trailers , lets just wait for the second one

and Yes i am with adriano , I'd simply watch the movie because theres Susan Sarandon in it… plus theres Rachel Weisz too
