First Looks at Johnson's 'Brick' Follow-Up, 'The Brothers Bloom'
Pics, poster, Weisz, Ruffalo, Brody and Kikuchi
I wasn't a fan of Brick even though a lot of people seemed to like the faux gangster/Godfather elements to the story. I found it… dumb, for a lack of a better word. To that effect I am also not too sure what to think of this new film from writer/director Rian Johnson called The Brothers Bloom starring Rachel Weisz, Mark Ruffalo, Adrien Brody and Rinko Kikuchi, which means two Oscar winners, an Oscar nominee and Ruffalo. Not a bad make-up for a film, but after seeing the trailer I feel like I already know what is going to happen based on one line Weisz has, "Trick to not feeling cheated is to learn how to cheat," which is followed by a quote from Brody saying, "Sometimes I feel like she knows everything." Considering this is a film in which Ruffalo and Brody play two con men brothers out to bilk Weisz for $2.5 million I can only take those words to mean one thing, but then again, they may be trying to con me and I will be pleasantly surprised.
One thing that is certainly surprising is how quickly Rinko Kikuchi has earned herself some top-billing following her Oscar nomination for Babel. That's impressive.
Nevertheless, the news today is that we have received two new pics from the film and our first look at the poster. The poster is featured below and you can click here or on the thumbnails at the end of the article to check out the full gallery. The Brothers Bloom hits theaters on October 24.
