What we have here is a perfect example of why we shouldn't judge a film too harshly before we actually see, which should tell you enough about my opinion of this first look at Nicolas Cage in The Sorceror's Apprentice from Just Jared.
The Walt Disney film reunites Cage with his National Treasure helmer Jon Turteltaub and takes its cues from the classic Goethe and Paul Dukas-inspired Mickey Mouse portion of Fantasia, the live-action feature centers on an apprentice who is left to tend to a magic workshop when his sorcerer master (Cage) leaves it in his hands. The apprentice gets a broomstick to do his chores for him, but things get out of control when the broom develops a mind of its own.
Along with Cage, Jay Baruchel plays the part of the apprentice and Teresa Palmer and Alfred Molina are also part of the cast.
The Sorceror's Apprentice is currently scheduled for a July 16, 2010 release. You can click here to check out all ten pics of Cage on set at Just Jared.

I just want to know how they'll make this film last a good 90 minutes. Is there even enough material to get it past 30?
Bums me out to see Jay Baruchel stuck in this crap. I've been a huge fan since Undeclared and to see him showing up in solid comedies and fun little indie flicks was awesome but how he agreed to this I don't know. Hope he gets a sweet paycheck out of it.
Speaking of paychecks, Nic Cage. Wow.
To quote a line from Battlestar Galactica: "OH GODS!!"
So this is pretty much the dumbest idea ever, yeah?
