The 95 world cup was epic from a Rugby point of view too.
AllBlacks v South Africa has a great history and atmosphere. It is like a war.
It will be hard to act out those great players, including Lomu, Bunce etc.
Hope they show Lomu smashing the poms!
And who poisoned the All Blacks???

This movie has the possibility of being huge... and on so many levels.

The 1995 Rugby World Cup was a coming out party for the Republic of South Africa and Nelson Mandela, and indeed proved to be the inflection point in their history. Aparthied was not pretty, and there is still plenty of race hatred there, as is all around the world, but people going on living, and there truly is more opportunity for at least some South Africans locked out before their Nation hosted the World Cup.

Today, the sport of rugby is fully professional at the highest levels, the 1995 World Cup marking the last time the game was played under the pretext of amatuer athletics. Rugby's draw is massive in South Africa, England, New Zealand, Japan, Wales, France, etc... The sport has literally exploded here in America at the youth and high school levels, but professional rugby has yet to become a reality. Can this movie help highlight our game's growth, and help to legitimize rugby, as it is viewed by many Americans as a marginal sport?

Rugby IS football. Its a game to be played and enjoyed, by everyone, by real people, unlike the NFL. Don't get me wrong. The NFL is awesome, but its a spectacle.

Separately, for those who know both rugby and the movies, isn't it funny Morgan Freeman towers over Matt Damon, but with the real-life characters they are playing, Mandela and Pienaar, its the exact opposite!? Ah, the magic of the movies!

Good luck Clint, you're doing God's work!
