Ethan Hawke Tapped for 'Daybreakers'
A futuristic vampire movie is just what we need
Just last night I took in an Ethan Hawke double-feature with two of my favorite films, Before Sunrise and Before Sunset. However, this little casting note is a little bit different than those two romances as Hawke has signed on to star in Daybreakers for Lionsgate Films and writer-director team Peter and Michael Spierig.
In the futuristic vampire feature will find Hawke playing a researcher in the year 2017, when a plague has transformed most of the world's population into vampires. As the human population nears extinction, vampires must capture and farm every remaining human or find a blood substitute before time runs out. However, a covert group of vampires makes a discovery that has the power to save the human race.
Word is that filming will begin in July in Australia and Weta Workshop will be creating the creature effects.
