Emmerich Jumping from '10,000 B.C.' to 2012

Next planet trashing epic is on its way

Roland Emmerich

I am not a huge fan of Roland Emmerich films and by the looks of it 10,000 B.C. is not going to change my opinion as he features prehistoric characters who speak fluent English. I know some of you may not mind this, but Quest for Fire made a caveman movie without English and it worked, so why make a film set in that time and give them all English 101 before beginning? Just doesn't make sense to me, but it doesn't have to, I am obviously not the target market. And it seems there may be more planet stomping fun in the future from Emmerich.

Roland brought you Independence Day and The Day After Tomorrow and his apocolyptic end times features aren't over yet as he is now shopping around a film called 2012, a film described only as an apocalyptic spec script written by Emmerich and Harald Kloser. The kicker here is that many studios are interested.

There isn't a studio front-runner mentioned but the article does point out that outside of Warner Bros. grabbing 10,000 B.C., Fox was able to nab Independence Day and Day After Tomorrow. Thoughts are that once the film finds a home production will begin immediately with Emmerich in the director's chair.
