Ok, now the Justice League movie really needs to be destroyed. Say what you want about Superman Returns (I liked it a lot, deduct cool points if you must), I think at the very least it's pretty undeniable Routh was a perfect heir to Reeve. Plus Routh is an Iowa boy (which doesn't necessarily mean I root for him, since I can't stand Ashton Kutcher) but i know some good friends of his who still speak to him very regularly and from all accounts he's a rather nice guy and a pretty big geek. So that pretty much puts me in his cheering corner. Damn, just when I thought the idea of the Justice League movie couldn't piss me off any more.

Personally I didn't like Superman Returns, but I like Singer's approach in making it more of an actual movie rather than just another throwaway superhero film, and actually I thought Routh was the best part of the film. For those reasons I was looking forward to Man of Steel from Singer, but I am having a really hard time supporting the Justice League film. I just think it is far too big of a venture to handle at a reasonable budget. Movies with one superhero cost enough, I can't even imagine how much an ensemble superhero film would cost.

I think a Justice League movie is too big of an idea to make cinematic. You have several characters with weird backgrounds (I'm not saying origin stories are needed, but how do you explain the bizarre background of Wonder Woman or The Green Lantern mixed with Batman and Superman without the film feeling tonally clumsy and overall half-baked?). Even the 1st 2 X-men movies (which I both like a lot, actually I love X2) weren't completely successful at this. Justice League works for comic books b/c the characters are from several other publications that play into the same continuity. You don't need exposition. The first film of any franchise shouldn't expect cultural osmosis to do a majority of the lifting in regards to creating its reality and characters…and I just have the feeling that this film will ask of the audience. And I just don't see how this film can work within 2 hours without coming off really silly and the characters being paper thin. I think solo superhero stories are best suited for cinema and superhero groups are best left on paper.–Although I'd kill to see a cinematic adaptation of Marvels, which would be perfect for film since it's full of superheroes but its main characters are normal people watching the action unfold.

I completely agree. Having that many superheroes in one movie is just not feasible considering movie budgets. The only way to do it is to create an animated Justice League, which considering today's animation wouldn't be that bad of an idea. Imagine if Blue Sky went ahead and made a Justice League film or if Hayao Miyazaki made an anime version. That would be worth seeing.
