Dimension Films Has No Shame… A 'Short Circuit' Remake? Really?
Really?

Now, there aren't any directors attached or planned production dates, but Dimension Films has acquired the remake rights to the 1986 robot feature Short Circuit a film made for its day and definitely does not need a remake. Seriously, at this point shouldn't Dimension Films just give up if this is the direction they are headed? Their recent releases include Superhero Movie, Halloween and Who's Your Caddy?. Then there is School for Scoundrels, DOA: Dead or Alive and Scary Movie 4. Even their decent films such as Grindhouse made no money. How are these guys still in business?
As for Short Circuit they have brought — damn this kills me — they have brought back the original writers S.S. Wilson and Brent Maddock to write the remake. What the hell is that? It's not like they are adapting their book, they are rewriting a movie they made 22 years ago and have since managed to bring us Tremors and its three sequels among a few other busts. What is going on in Hollywood? Has all the imagination drained out?
Bob Weinstein made the deal for Dimension, calling Short Circuit a worthy addition to its family film slate. What a crock of shit. Why not just re-release the first one? Isn't that essentially what is going to happen? Or is Johnny 5 going to be even cooler in CG?
Fuck me, this hurts my head.
