Diesel is the ‘Wheelman’

Guess what... it's a videogame adaptation (surprise)

Vin Diesel apparently isn’t happy with just one videogame adaptation even though his rumored attachment to the videogame adaptation Hitman hasn’t been talked about since it was announced. This time around the game is “The Wheelman”, which is being developed by Midway Games in conjunction with MTV Films and Paramount Pictures for a simultaneous release with Diesel set to star in and produce both.

The game is an action-adventure title about an expert driver who comes out of retirement to protect a woman from his past. The game’s story will be a prequel to the film, with some crossover between the two. The film’s screenplay is being penned by xXx scribe Rich Wilkes with a finished draft expected in about two months.

“We saw Vin’s dedication to the ‘Riddick’ game and thought this would be a great vehicle for him,” Midway CEO David Zucker told Variety.

The game is well into development for the next generation consoles Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Budget is believed to be north of $15 million, which is considered on the high end for videogames.

You should expect both the game and movie to be released late 2007.
