Dennis Quaid is Now the Biggest Name in ‘G.I. Joe’

What a cluster this production has become

Dennis Quaid

Dennis Quaid anyone? Anyone around here care much about Dennis Quaid and his filmography?

Looking back at Quaid’s career I am going to say In Good Company is the only performance he gave that even stands out in the slightest to me, and now, he’s the biggest name in the upcoming adaptation G.I. Joe. That is if we are basing it on experience. If not I guess we could say Marlon Wayans is the most recognizeable name and if we are saying that we are also saying we are throwing talent right out the window.

Anyway, as we have recently learned that Channing Tatum will by playing Duke Hauser, the lead Joe soldier and that Arnold Vasloo will be playing Zartan we now get word from Variety that Dennis Quaid will be playing General Hawk, the Joe team leader. Tatum’s character works closely on missions with Ripcord, a team member that will be played by Marlon Wayans.

The film is set to begin shooting in Los Angeles next month with an August 7, 2009 release date set. Will it be any good? That is a hard question to answer. Do you like the campy acti0n adventure style of The Mummy films or perhaps the awful mess that was Van Helsing? If so you may be in tune with Stephen Sommers as he sets out to make an obviously far less serious Joe film than some may have hoped.
