Damon Discusses ‘Bourne Ultimatum’

Third Bourne flick coming sometime.

Matt Damon stars in the ill-received Terry Gilliam fantasy The Brothers Grimm this weekend, but what fans are clammoring for is the third film in his Bourne series after Bourne Supremacy was such a hit, we are all left to wonder when The Bourne Ultimatum will actually be made, and I am sure Universal is wondering the same thing.

Well, as Damon tells Zap2It, the film is “off in the middle distance somewhere.” Eh? What the hell does that mean?

Damon kept on in the interview saying, “I keep doing movies like with Terry Gilliam, I just wrapped one with Scorsese [The Departed], I’m going to do this run of movies and then, if I flame out in all of them, I’ll do another Bourne movie [and] buy myself a few more years.”

Before I reveal anymore of the article, let me just say that is some real bullshit! Damon has The Departed, Syriana and The Good Shepherd coming up and that should be more than enough to fulfilly his Oscar-bait quota, give us Bourne! That said, he does go on and give us a little bit of encouragement in his next quote:

“There’s no reason the third one shouldn’t be the best of all of them,” he says optimistically. “That would be the only way to kind of come back and do it, is not just to milk the cash cow, but to make it a proper kind of trilogy and finish it on a great note so that people look back and say, ‘You know what, that was a f***ing kick-ass three-movie trilogy there.’ It’s not something I would want to do forever, you know.”

He continues on the subject for a bit longer, click here for the rest of the story.
