Damon As Kirk in ‘Star Trek XI’?

Is this possible, would it happen?

There have been rumors flying all over regarding the upcoming “Star Trek” movie franchise reboot with J.J. Abrams now confirmed as the director of Star Trek XI they are sure to catch on like wildfire. One said rumor involved Matt Damon playing a young Capt. James T. Kirk, but then the rumors cooled as it seemed like the story might not go in that direction.

Well, to no surprise, the question was brought to Damon while he was out promoting the new Universal Pictures release The Good Shepherd as to whether he would be open to the idea and SCI-FI has his answer:

If the script was good, I’d do it… But, yeah, I heard that [rumor]. I think J.J. Abrams or somebody said that at [a] press junket or something, and it got picked up [by the media and Star Trek fans].”

Personally I don’t see this happening, but this is Hollywood and anything can happen.
