Dakota Fanning Joins Kristen Stewart in Joan Jett Feature

Eh, not seeing this one

That's Dakota Fanning on the left if you weren't sure

Dakota Fanning has already been rumored to be up for a role in the third film in the Twilight franchise, Eclipse, but if she doesn't join Kristen Stewart in that film she has one to fall back on as she is in negotiations to join The Runaways, the biopic of the '70s all-girl band in which Stewart is already signed on to star as Joan Jett.

Fanning would play lead singer Cheri Currie in the film which was written and will be directed by Floria Sigismondi when it begins production in late spring.

Variety tells us at 15, Fanning is the same age Currie was when she made her debut with the Runaways as the lead singer who belted out hard-edged tunes like "Cherry Bomb." Currie became caught up in drugs and a hard-partying lifestyle.

I don't mean to sound negative, but I am never interested in these young stars playing these hard edged roles. A similar situation happened with Alpha Dog and it just felt all wrong, especially when Emile Hirsch was trying to act like Mr. Tough Guy. Stewart is certainly more along the lines of the type to play such a part, but Fanning is a bit too much the sweet and innocent type. That's just my opinion anyway.

No offence, but that is a really old picture of Dakota. She has grown up a lot since then, and she's an amazing actress, so she can definitely pull it off.

Why do you insist on keeping actors in a box? Fanning hasn't played a role with an edge yet, but she is also still very young. Actors (the good ones anyway) grow and mature. Don't knock her until you give her a chance. I'm thinking she'll surprise you.
