Curran Replaces Link Under ‘Veil’

Watts and Norton drama gets a new helmer.

Variety is reporting that John Curran is taking over the directorial duties for The Painted Veil, a film set to star Edward Norton and Naomi Watts for Warner Independent Pictures.

Caroline Link was the originial helmer for the picture, which is based on the novel by W. Somerset Maugham.

The story is set in 1922 London, and concerns a restless married woman who sets out on an odyssey of self-discovery that begins with cheating on her conservative scientist husband and ends with battling cholera in the Far East.

Curran and Watts are not strangers as the two worked previously on We Don’t Live Here Anymore, which Warner Independent also released.
