Cruise on Spector

Is Tom Cruise eyeing a Phil Spector bio pic?

The Hollywood Stock Exchange is reporting that Tom Cruise is currently getting ready to work with helmer Cameron Crowe for a third time as the two are in development on a Phil Spector biopic set to be distributed by Universal Pictures.

Cruise and Crowe worked together on Jerry Maguire and Vanilla Sky and HSX goes on to describe this new film as a biographical picture of record producer and songwriter Phil Spector.

Born in New York City, Spector studied under several producers as a teenager. In 1961, he helped form Philles Records, eventually becoming the owner. Spector produced twenty hits in a three year span for the likes of the Crystals, Ben E. King and the Righteous Brothers. He was also a recording pioneer in the studio by introducing multitrack recording to create the special “wall of sound” effect.

Thanks to ‘JSv’ for the heads up.
