Crowe May Direct ‘Eucalyptus’

Changes on the Aussie front.

It seems that just because filming has been delayed due to script issues that Eucalyptus is certainly not dead.

The Sydney Morning Herald is now reporting that Russell Crowe may actually take over directorial duties on the film, which he is starring in alongside Nicole Kidman.

Aussie helmer, Jocelyn Moorhouse, is the current director, but SMH reports that Crowe was scouting for locations in the northern NSW town of Bellingen and undertaking technical surveys with the project’s director of photography Mandy Walker.

It also goes on to say that Moorhouse tendered her resignation within five days of the first script read-through involving Crowe and Kidman, but was told by the studio she was under contract and had to continue. She can’t be feeling to good now considering the studio didn’t exactly seem confident in the readiness of the writer-director’s script.

So with Crowe possibly eyeing directorial duties this may get Moorhouse out of the flick, a movie that SMH is reporting as having problems since the start and now with production postponed indefinitely on the $18 million film there are 80 people suddenly out of work.
