'Crouching Tiger' Prequels and Sequel Coming?

It's stage and screen for 'Tiger' stories.

Are you a fan of Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon? If so some treats are coming your way as the Weinstein brothers seem to be tackling the books that encompass the Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon stories with a relentless fervor.

First off the duo is planning on bringing a legitimate big budget version of the martial arts flick to the stage featuring the greatest martial artists in what Harvey Weinstein described to Variety as a "combination spectacle and musical with a cohesive (storyline)."

That – is just the beginning however. Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon was an adapted story from the original "Crane — Iron" books, which comprise five martial arts novels that follow the adventures of three generations of related protagonists during the Qing dynasty. Titles include "Crane Frightens KunLun," "Precious Sword," "Golden Hairpin," "Sword Spirit, Pearl Light," "Tiger" and "Iron Knight, Silver Vase."

As for feature film versions following the stories of the three prequels and one sequel the Weinsteins would like to approach Crouching Tiger director Ang Lee and producer Bill Kong about coming on board.

Bob Weinstein told Daily Variety, "In our efforts to continue developing strong roots in Asia at the Weinstein Company, we see these projects as an avenue to nurture new relationships and discover fresh talent."
