A 2-Disc Blu-ray can be viewed as what it probably is, which is a marketing stunt to make it sound cooler... or it could have to do with the fact that they are also presenting the special features in HD. Also, the less special features on a disc means the more room for the movie, which means less compression in terms of both audio and video.
