I've just finished watching the oscars about 30 minutes ago. hands down the best Academy awards I've every seen and two thumbs way up. this one will no doubt be talked about for a long time. But what shocked me the must was the multi talanted hosting from huge Jackman masterful on all levels not only hosting breathtaking song and dance numbers, his jokes always made me laugh throughout the show and he never seemed nervous. I,m so damn happy for Slumdog Millionaire winning 8 awards out of 10 noms with missing two awards, thats a damn shame LOL just kidding around, i was nervous the whole show thinking The Reader was going to steal the best picture away from Slumdog. I love the fact that Slumdog won best picture, but I was more pleased that it won for original score and original song. because for me every single damn song in the movie was nothing short of breathtaking, most original and heartfelt songs I've herd in a movie in a long time. It was so damn moving when one of the best supporting actors of the past said all those toughing kind works about Heath Ledger not a dry eye in the house, even my mom was crying, congrats on your win Heath, hope your celebrating in heaven with god and a dozen angels R.I.P. sean penn winning for best actor shocked the hell out of me didn't see that come at all and also pissed me off his already an oscar winner its bull that he won a second, when everyone though Mickey Rourke was going to win after he won the golden goble we all though he was a lock to win and but what really pisses me off is that brad pitt didn't win again his been working his ass off to bring us great movies over the years, well he may have lost the battle this year but his far from losting the war, after his role in QT's bastards he will be nominated again and finally win and finally everyone else that was going to win tonight that i expected did.

@robert caplan: Jesus Christ, like to buy a period?

I really enjoyed the ceremony. I'd even go as far as calling it the best I've ever seen. Glad to see Heath Ledger pick up his reward.

@Garrett: Lol @ your response to robert.

I was disappointed that the winners were leaked– it kind of killed the surprise a bit. That said, the show this year was much better than previous years. It was a nice surprise to have Ledger get Supporting, but I was also very relieved that Benjamin Button (that overrated trip) did not get nearly as many awards. Slumdog was the little movie that could, and it was very refreshing to see that. Also, while I'm glad Winslet finally received her long deserved Oscar, it was disappointing to see Streep pushed aside again. She's overdue as well.

@a.v.: The winners were not leaked if you paid attention to who won and who was listed on the faked leak list. I don't even think half of the people listed on that fake list even won. Taking that into consideration I would have thought the show would have been VERY exciting for you.

The winners might have well been leaked. Why watch a four hour award show when you already knew the winners of the top nine awards, except the Penn/Rourke winner.

I thought the show was OK. Jackman was a good host, and I enjoyed both of his musical numbers. There were some great presenters too, specifically Ben Stiller and Will Smith. I was disappointed with the incredible predictability of the awards though. Honestly the only win that surprised me at all (I'm not being sarcastic) was Slumdog Millionaire winning Sound Mixing. So while on one level the show was fun and entertaining, while on another it could not have been more boring, not to mention the fact that this year the Academy chose to reward a rather mediocre film. Don't get me wrong, I liked Slumdog Millionaire, but I feel that it pales vastly in comparison to several films which weren't even nominated–The Dark Knight, In Bruges, Wall-E, and The Wrestler, to name a few. I'm alright with it winning a few awards (even I'll agree that Danny Boyle probably deserved his Best Director win), but the fact that it was the first film in 5 years (since The Return of the King) to win more than 5 Oscars just doesn't sit well with me.

Also, I haven't seen Milk, but I find it very, very hard to believe he did a better job than Mickey Rourke's performance in The Wrestler. Just my opinion.

Whoops, typo:

I find it very, very hard to believe that Sean Penn did a better job than Mickey Rourke in The Wrestler.
