Coen Bros. Clean Coal Commercial Causes Commotion
Brought to you by the coal industry, the most trusted name in coal
This started circulating the Internet on Thursday, but it wasn't until I saw it make its way into an Associated Press article that I assumed some of you may be interested in checking it out.
The Coen brothers (No Country for Old Men) directed a commercial for a group of five environmental groups known as the Reality Coalition (their official site), a group taking aim at the American Coalition for Clean Coal Electricity who promote the industry's use of pollution-control equipment and argue that coal can be a clean, cheap and abundant fuel. The Reality Coalition goes by the slogan "In reality, there's no such thing as clean coal."
The Coens issued a joint statement saying, "We were excited to be part of this important project and tell another side of the 'clean' coal story."
The faux commercial below is for Clean Coal Air Freshener "Now with a new and improved label!" Give it a watch as it certainly has that Coen bros. feel to it.
