Clooney as Duke in ‘G.I. Joe’?

This can't be true... can it?

G.I. Cloooney

Let me first say that Michael Clayton is a fantastic movie and just because the idiot American audience skipped it for the inane comedy of The Game Plan does not change that fact. So, the idea that George Clooney would base his future film choices on the stupidity of American audiences is one of the most frustrating things I hvae ever heard considering I love Clooney’s film choices, which makes this latest rumor hardly believable.

Movies.com is reporting that the reason Clooney dropped out of Joe Carnahan’s White Jazz, on top of the reason listed above, is because he has been tipped as the front-runner to play Duke in the G.I. Joe film adapatation for Stephen Sommers and Paramount Pictures.

The rumor lists no sources or any reason we should actually believe it, but it is out there… While I think Clooney lends some credibility to the film and would improve my feelings on how good it actually will be I just can’t believe it.
