Clint Eastwood’s ‘Gran Torino’ Gets a Poster, Picture and Release Date

Gun? Check... Release Date? Check...

Bee Vang, left, plays the teenage immigrant whom Eastwood tries to help out in Gran Torino.

USA Today has debuted the first image and the poster for Clint Eastwood’s Gran Torino, a film now set for a limited release on December 17 and could mean Oscar noms for the aging actor.

Also in the interview Eastwood seems to be leaning toward putting an end to his career as an actor and sticking to behind the camera work. When discussing the topic he answered, “Yeah, it’ll probably be my last… I’ll be drummed out of it after this one.” He goes on to say, “Nah, I’m just kidding,” but in a moment of seriousness he does add a final note saying, “It was fun. But I’m not destined to do too many more. I’ve been happy doing the ones I haven’t been in.”

Gran Torino will see Eastwood as a grouchy widower spurred to tough action when his neighborhood is beset by violent gangs. The film gets its title from his character’s vintage 1973 Ford Gran Torino. Clint was quoted in a prior interview saying of his character:

I’m a weirdo in it. I play a real racist . . . . But it also has redemption. This Hmong family moves in next door, and he has been in the Korean War, in the infantry, and looks down on Asian people and lumps everybody together. But finally they befriend him in his time of need because he has no relationship with his family.

You can check out the poster for the film below and also see Eastwood’s latest effort Changeling, starring Angelina Jolie, this weekend.

Angry lonely man turns friendly in the end, not exactly a new idea but in Clint’s hands this could be quite interesting.
