CINEMATIC REVIVAL: From 'The Seventh Seal' to 'Almost Famous'

I had to clear these out of my system

Notice not only the tear, but coupled with the smile it makes it one hell of a performance.

Let's quickly start off with Almost Famous, a film I watched all the way back in September 2007 and never took the time to do a write up for. Fellow RopeofSilicon writer, Laremy Legel, is a huge Cameron Crowe fanatic and kept on telling me how I had to see this movie, and after giving it a watch I can see why Kate Hudson was nominated for an Oscar, but I am not sure if I agree with it winning an adapted screenplay Oscar over the likes of Erin Brockovich or Gladiator (I would include Billy Elliot as well, but that is yet another movie I have not seen).

There is one moment in Almost Famous that actually sticks out in my mind and it is the scene pictured above and in the video below. It is hard to see in the pic and the video, but when Kate allows that one tear to fall it is what I believe earned her that Oscar nomination.
