Chris Pine is Captain Kirk or Junior Stemmons?

I know which one I would pick

Chris Pine

Can you believe Chris Pine has the chance to star as Captatin Kirk in Paramount’s Star Trek and opposite George Clooney in Joe Carnahan’s White Jazz and may have to choose one or the other? Now that sucks!

The Hollywood Reporter is saying that Pine is in discussions to star as Kirk in Trek and negotiations to star in White Jazz, but shooting schedules may force him to choose one over the other. Trek is set to shoot from November through March, while Jazz has a mid-January start. Word is that both sides are trying to make it work, but it may come down to a game of rock, paper, scissors. I don’t know about you, but as cool as it would be to play in another Carnahan flick (Pine played one of the Tremor brothers in Smokin’ Aces) it would be near impossible to turn down the chance to play a young Kirk in the franchise rich Star Trek.

If he joins the Trek cast he will be cast alongside Anton Yelchin as the young Chekov, the Russian-born navigator; Zachary Quinto as the young Spock; Zoe Saldana as the young Uhura, the communications officer, and newly announced Eric Bana as Nero, the villain of the flick.

As for Jazz, four days ago Carnahan posted on his site saying, “Junior Stemmons and Glenda Bledsoe have been cast,” but he was unwilling to reveal the names and today we learn why. Pine would play Junior Stemmons, Clooney’s partner in the film noir tale.

Who knows what will happen, but Carnahan’s statement makes it seem like Pine has already signed on.
